What Other People Just Like You Are Saying About Sustain Physical Therapy and Performance In Boston’s Back Bay, MA
EXCELLENT Based on 110 reviews Cameron Quimby2025-06-19Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came to Sustain Physical Therapy to address knee pain that started during my Boston Marathon training. I was new to physical therapy so wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. In the initial appointment Adam took the time to understand my goals and training routine in n addition to analyzing my biomechanics, and offering his prognosis for what was causing my knee pain. After only a few sessions my knee pain went from stopping my runs to being hardly noticeable. Not only was Adam able to help me overcome my knee pain, he offered valuable advice on how to incorporate strength and mobility work as part of my overall training plan. 10/10 I would recommend Sustain PT and Adam to anyone who is looking to get over a lingering pain or learn how to properly train your body for the movements you care about. I first came to Sustain PT with prolonged back/hip discomfort and Adam helped me strengthen both areas so I can get back to doing what I love to do, running and golfing. Would highly recommend Adam Liptak and the crew at Sustain PT. Carmen Prantil2025-06-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It’s a bittersweet feeling to be graduating from Sustain Physical Therapy; I’m elated to be out of pain, but a bit heartbroken to be flocking the nest of a place that fuels me with so much energy, strength, and confidence. This team truly puts their words into action when they say they’re in it with you. You can feel it the moment you walk in—each trainer is genuinely invested, not just in your recovery, but in you as a whole human. They go beyond the clipboard and reps of a typical PT to build a one-on-one relationship that’s motivating, empowering, and educational. Special shoutout to Zach, who made 7am sled drags feel like a totally normal (dare I say fun) life choice. His energy is infectious, and he strikes the rare balance of expert guidance with down-to-earth encouragement. He connected the dots for me beyond just movement, giving insight on peripheral factors like shoe choice and nutrition, that helped me to see the bigger picture of how everything works together. If life ever throws another injury my way, I know exactly where I’m headed. Five stars plus! Sam Sturim2025-06-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve really enjoyed working with Zach at Sustain. I had tried a few different PTs before coming in, but never felt like I was able to get on the same page with them. From day one, Zach built a plan from the ground up that actually worked — all while keeping my broader fitness goals in mind. The whole staff is super professional and friendly, and the space itself is an awesome place to train. Highly recommend. After suffering a back injury that left me in constant pain and discomfort, a coworker suggested Zach at Sustain. I am an ICU nurse and live a very active lifestyle, and I was desperate to get back to my normal self. The first PT office I tried before seeing Zach focused on exercises that made me constantly brace my core. This made my neck, back, and hip pain so much worse. Zach's exercise plan focused on more fluid, strategic movements, and he has calmed my anxiety about re-injury every step of the way. Within a month I was back in the gym moving more and more each day. I definitely recommend Zach at Sustain. I know would still be miserable and in pain without his help the past few months!! The first thing you notice when you enter is that it's very clean, the environment is very relaxed, and all the staff is friendly and personable. I worked with Zach Schwarz and after a consult was impressed that he performed a hands-on assessment (most consults are only verbal) and seemed to completely understand what was going on with my shoulder, could explain it well, and already showed me some movements to help relieve the tension. I bought a package of 10 sessions and every week Zach would re-assess, perform soft tissue work (ART/graston/cupping/etc.) which was immediately relieving, then show me some stretches and movements to first open the space and then move through the space created in my shoulder. He prescribed daily breathing exercises, stretches, and movements using a smartphone app that we communicated through, and he made changes on the fly based on my feedback. He also worked with my weight-lifting coach to help modify and change my weekly workout routine in a way that still allowed progress but didn't further aggravate my shoulder, allowing it to recover. I went from having shoulder pain and tightness nearly every day to it occurring less than once per week and having tools to calm it down when it does occur. After our last session, he even took the time to write a word document with all the tools we went over and how to prescribe/apply them myself in the future. I'm very grateful for Zach and Sustain as they care about the patient experience, take an individual approach, and do it out of passion. This is the first place I come next time I have a need for physical therapy. Tom Murphy2025-04-28Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I started working with Adam Liptak earlier this year to address hip pain at the start of a marathon training block. My hip pain was gone after a couple of weeks, but I decided to continue working with Adam for the remainder of the training block. With his expert guidance and custom training plans, I was finally incorporating strength and mobility into my running in a meaningful way. It resulted in my best marathon training block to date, with a strong finish in Boston, and I can't thank Adam enough for that. Would definitely recommend! I’m not a gym-loving person naturally, but I like the results for my health. Sustain is uniquely positioned for people who have injuries or specific deficits but are otherwise somewhat athletic (though of course they can work with clients at any level of fitness!). I especially like that now that I’m back to a baseline, we do the usual weight lifting/strength training exercises but the form and focus is tailored to my specific issues and weaknesses. It’s targeted in a way that even my best experiences with regular gym trainers couldn’t get to, which I attribute to the medical and therapeutic background of the staff, who are all extremely pleasant and supportive. Craig Scholl2025-04-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Training at Sustain brings me so much joy. Prior to working with them my exercise experience had been on and off, more off than on. My experience with Sustain is that I started with them to fix a problem, graduated to exercising and then adding independent workouts that complement my Sustain sessions. I found Sustain when looking for physical therapy for an injury I got while bicycling. I received personalized treatment that supported my recovery and allowed me to get back to the activities I enjoy. My experience is that the trainers do an excellent job of asking questions, listening, and then aligning exercises with my needs. As I healed I transitioned from therapy to training with goals of strengthening my body and reducing future injuries. Working with a trainer gives me confidence in my exercise program and provides me with continuous feedback that allows me to do my best. As a result of working with a Sustained Fitness trainer my strength and flexibility has improved, I feel better about myself, and I feel more confident in my other activities. I ended up at sustain physical therapy and performance after a fall from my electric scooter (I can hear the snickers from here). I worked with Zach due to his experience with injuries similar to mine. Zach was great with… his knowledge coupled with his ability to put me on the road to recovery while navigating the pain and discomfort and simultaneously pushing me a bit (when appropriate) made for a tremendous overall experience. If ever I’m plagued with another injury that would benefit from PT, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to Zach and SPTP.
